Introduction to Business Continuity Planning (Virtual)
This virtual course is designed to help you understand business continuity, the importance of having adequate business continuity processes and procedures in place, the importance of maintaining your services should an emergency occur and the steps to take to prepare for and maintain business continuity.
The training is delivered via two interactive 2.5 hour sessions with breaks.
You will learn how to take the first steps towards protecting your business in times of crisis. Our experts will share their knowledge and experience and deliver a comprehensive introduction to implementing business continuity best practice in your organisation.
By the end of the training you will be able to:
- Describe business continuity v disaster recovery
- Understand business continuity terminology
- Recognise the events, incidents and factors which affect the continuity of business
- Recognise the potential strategic and operational risks associated with business interruption
- Use impact assessments to identify and mitigate risks
- Create, test and review a business continuity plan using templates and checklists
- Effectively embed business continuity within your organisation
If you are responsible for the development of your organisation’s business continuity plans, oversee the deployment of organisational business continuity measures, or simply have an interest in business continuity then this course is for you.
Andrew has significant experience in the application of data protection legislation and holds a Diploma in Corporate Governance; he is also certified in GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations).
He is a former senior civil servant, holding a variety key posts throughout his career, including Staff Officer and Head of Corporate Services for a large Scottish public authority, Programme Executive Officer and Head of Assurance for a National Reform Programme.
Andrew was laterally Chief of Staff and Head of Corporate Governance within the public sector, where he held strategic responsibility for Executive Support, Policy Support and the continuous development of governance, relationships and liaison with key external partners and stakeholders. In January 2016, this role was extended to include the Corporate Governance function, which included Risk Management, Information Management, Data Protection and Regulatory Compliance.
